At Grange Farm our curriculum incorporates everything we want the children to experience, learn and be able to do. It meets all the requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and has the flexibility to allow us to respond quickly to children’s interests and/or needs.
The intent for our children is for them to enter the next stage of their education ready to tackle new challenges with confidence and a positive mindset. Everything we do is underpinned by our personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE).
Reading is at the very heart of everything we do, and we encourage you to read as much as possible with your child at home. Our reading curriculum strives to foster a lifelong love of reading, as well as developing fluent, confident readers who can successfully comprehend and understand a wide range of texts.
As well as our English, Maths and phonics education, we enjoy plenty of time outside, in the forest, making healthy food, dancing and singing, creating art, designing and discovering new and interesting things every day in science, history and geography!
Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through seven areas. Children should mostly develop the three prime areas first. These are:
Personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and physical development.
These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in four specific areas. These are:
Mathematics, literacy, understanding the world, expressive arts and design.
These seven areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. At Grange Farm, our experienced EYFS team ensure that tasks and challenges are suited to your child’s unique needs and interests.
Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking. Our environment indoors and outdoors is continually enhanced with resources designed to scaffold and maximise learning.
Please take the time to read through our curriculum and early learning goals as this will help you to understand the end of year expectations and the topics we are likely to cover over the year.
